Italian Turkey Burgers

This recipe came from my Aunt Emily, who found it on weight watchers. I know what you're thinking... if this came from weight watchers, it's going to taste like cardboard. These are actually really good.

We use low fat turkey (typically 93% fat free). Low fat turkey is great for you, but it crumbles to pieces really easily because the fat (when it's in there) does a great job of holding the ground pieces of meat together. To remedy this problem, we add an egg. The scrambled, raw egg acts like a glue that holds everything together while it's cooking.

Fennel seed tastes like something that you taste in sausage patties.

Ingredients:
-1 lb lean ground turkey
-1/3 cup of onions, chopped
-2 teaspoons minced garlic
-2 teaspoons fennel seed
-1/2 teaspoon table salt
-1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
-1 egg (optional)

Directions:
-Combine turkey, onion, garlic, fennel seed, egg, and salt and pepper in a large mixing bowl.
-Form patties to your desired thickness and size
-Grill burgers until they're done. I know this isn't very specific, but it depends on how thick you make your burger.
-Serve on buns (or low-fat sandwich thins) with tomato slices, cheese, spicy mustard, etc. The recipe recommends adding fresh basil, which does taste good.

We usually eat these with lima beans and baked sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries have chili powder on them, which is really tasty. The pictures shows this meal with couscous, which is tasty as well, and when it comes from a box, it's easier and quicker than sweet potato fries.
