Katie and I wanted some pizza last week, and we're not quite industrious enough to make our own crust. As a result, we googled this quick Margherita pizza recipe.
Ingredients:
1 (10-ounce) can refrigerated pizza crust dough or pre-made crust
Cooking spray
1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil, divided
1 garlic clove, halved (optional)
5 plum tomatoes, thinly sliced (about 3/4 pound)
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded fresh mozzarella cheese
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
1/2 cup thinly sliced fresh basil
Cooking spray
1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil, divided
1 garlic clove, halved (optional)
5 plum tomatoes, thinly sliced (about 3/4 pound)
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded fresh mozzarella cheese
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
1/2 cup thinly sliced fresh basil
2 tablespoons oregano (diced)
1/8 (pinch) teaspoon salt
1/8 (pinch) teaspoon black pepper
1/8 (pinch) teaspoon salt
1/8 (pinch) teaspoon black pepper
red pepper flakes
We opted for a pre-made crust and coated the crust in a mixture of salt, pepper, and olive oil.
We sliced the tomatoes as thin as possible and covered the crust.
The ball of mozzarella was also sliced thin and placed on top of the layer of tomatoes. The oregano and basil are sprinkled over the top. Pepper flakes could be added now as well if desired.
Bake on a greased tray at 350 until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden brown.
Recipe came from Cooking Light.
