So I was thinking the other day that, because most of us don't cook for 21+ meals per week, it might be interesting to add a section for restaurants in our respective locations. This will help visitors and maybe even random people (some day) know some great places to eat in the area. It also allows the more bashful cooks to contribute to the blog.
Pomegranite on Main St. in Greenville seems like a natural first choice for a restaurant on our blog... it is one of our favorite places to eat in Greenville.
Pomegranite serves Persian food. Our typical meal consists of a hummus and naan appetizer followed by chicken kebab with lentils in dill basmati (for Katie) and lamb kebab with white raisins in basmati (for me). Both are served with grilled tomatos that are really really good.
They also provide a complimentary plate of naan, radishes, mint, and some kind of cheese. You eat all of these items together (we were told that it's a typical persian breakfast dish). As random as that combination of ingredients sounds, it's really good.
The wine that we've had there was also really good. Our favorite kind is called Meditrina, which is a blend of some type from Oregan. I believe they have 'half-off bottle of wine' nights a few days every week.
Overall, the price is pretty reasonable. Probably $25 a head including appetizer. The atmosphere is really cool because we love to jam out to middle-eastern-sounding music.
